If your C900's ECU failed and you don't want to spend $400+ for a remanufactured one I can help. Email or call me at 314-324-1069

Hey, my son Jared successfully rebuilt the bad ECU from my wife's 91 turbo. It failed to supply the ground for the fuel pump to run. Apparently that's a common point of failure on C900s. I replaced it with a salvage yard part a couple of years ago and couldn't stand to throw the bad one away. He's pretty pumped about his success and is looking for ECUs to rebuild, so if you know anybody who has one let me know. Online they want around $400 for a remanufactured one and his cost is only a few $. You can read about it here: http://www.saabcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=243899

Great to know! Have that problem with my NA Airflow. I think I already picked up a correct/interchange spare ecu. I also sold a turbo ecu to a local guy that works on c900s with the same issue. So we might have a few cores to work with.

Cool. Let me know and I'll figure out a way to pick them up. Jared's 89 turbo's ecu failed with a different problem. It was lacking the pulse signal that triggers the injectors. I had a matching used ecu so we just put it in. He's trying to trace the injector problem in the ecu now. Only problem we have is we don't have any way of testing the repaired ecu except in the actual car. I don't own any NA cars any more, but if it's the fuel pump ground that's bad, he knows which circuit it is.

Does he have a scope to test stuff with? If not, I recently bought myself a DSO Quad (here ($190)) and am LOVING it. It has helped me out numerous times with automotive electrical problems and others. I would definitely encourage him to pick up one of those.

If, however, he has some desk space and a tad bit more money, you can get either something from PicoTech ($260) or Rigol ($350).

David, he's got a bench full of gadgets and scopes. I'm not sure what all he has. He's also a test engineer at Emerson and is in charge of calibrating their equipment at plants around the world. One of the challenges he told me about with the ecu is that apparetnly there aren't any schematics available identitying the circuits or values of the components.

Oh wow! That is quite a challenge. Pretty cool that he's able to get as far as he is with them! :)
